Hi, I’m Meredith Baxter!
I’m the gal behind Heritage Birthkeeping—a Pain Free Birth™ trained Doula based in Salem, VA serving women and families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
After welcoming my daughter at home in 2024, I quickly sought a way to learn how to support other women seeking a God-honoring, empowered birth experience.
I wholeheartedly believe that pregnancy and birth can be a joyful experience, whatever the circumstance, and that every woman deserves an encourager, advocate, and guide to walk alongside her through this beautiful journey.
When I’m not chasing my mini-me or reviving my sourdough starter, I’m working as a nationally certified ASL interpreter. I hope to combine both of these passions by offering specialized doula services for families with communication needs during pregnancy and birth, working to bridge the gap in accessible maternity care for expecting mothers.

My Birth Philosophy
I believe birth to be one of the most beautiful expressions of God’s design for women. When I gave birth to my daughter at home, it was an experience that changed everything. I remember telling people I wasn’t afraid of labor—I believed birth could be pain-free. Yes, most people thought I was crazy, but I trusted what I had learned. And when the time came, I experienced it: a birth so calm and instinctual, I didn’t even realize I was in labor. It was the most awe-inspiring, joy-filled moment of my life.
After that, I knew I wanted to do more. I wanted other women to know this kind of birth was possible. That’s what led me to become a doula. As your birthkeeper, I’m here to gently guide you—not to take over, but to support you in creating the kind of space where you and your birth partner can feel fully present and connected.
